Alice House
BURNHAM MARKET • Sleeps 6 • Dogs welcome
Alice House is a striking award winning Grade ll Listed Georgian luxury self-catering cottage in Burnham Market, just moments from the heart of the village's vibrant green, boutiques, galleries and restaurants and just a short drive from the coast. Arranged over three floors, this charming property boasts stylish furnishings and contemporary decorative touches. A bespoke blend of old meets new, this unique village property is straight from the pages of a glossy magazine.

Alice House is wonderfully located and boasts some great views over the church and village. Just five minutes’ drive or a short cycle ride away from the beach, it offers the best of both worlds.
Burnham Market adopted the nickname ‘Chelsea by Sea’ in recent years, due to the clientele it attracts and its coastal location. Considered one of the loveliest villages in England, the village has plenty to offer and Alice House is the perfect spot to soak it all up!
Inside this period property, which has been styled to an exceptional standard, you will find a wealth of original features including dark wooden floors, exposed timber beams and high ceilings.
The sitting room is a sophisticated mix of antique finds and modern furnishings which sit alongside the latest in entertainment technology including a Flatscreen TV/DVD player and iPod docking station. The epitome of warmth and comfort, there is an open fire to warm your toes when the nights draw in.
At the heart of the cottage, the kitchen features a wood burning stove and a large window overlooking the garden. The kitchen is homely and comfortable with a large traditional table and range cooker. If you don’t feel like cooking on holiday or fancy a special treat, then why not book a private chef who can prepare a meal in advance or cater for a larger dinner party? Contact us for more details.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Alice House has three fabulous boutique bedrooms. The master bedroom suite, located on the second floor, is the epitome of boutique living and style. With its king-size bed, it features a large walk-in dressing area, and fabulous en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath with claw and ball feet and centrally mounted mixer tap and hand held shower attachment.
This is truly the icing on the cake and has all the charm of a traditional Georgian bathroom yet offers top of the range 21st century luxury too.
With super views over All Saints church and the surrounding rooftops and with all bedrooms featuring comfy mattresses and luxurious cotton linens, you’ll never want to get out of bed! On the first floor you will find the further two bedrooms; a twin and king double; both with large sash windows overlooking the private garden and the village and both with en-suites (one with a bath and one with a shower).
There is a cloakroom on the ground floor.
Alice House has been restored to an exceptional standard and has been transformed into a unique boutique retreat.
Barefoot relaxation
The garden is a wonderful feature of the property with willow fencing and chalk stone and brick. A timber gate from the parking area opens onto a paved path leading to a sun terrace, which makes great use of the favourable south and west aspects. A ‘secret’ door to the south aspect, lets you step instantly into village life.
Located a few minutes from the coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Burnham Market is for many the jewel in North Norfolk’s crown. Set in the heart of the royal coast, this stunning Georgian village has a green surrounded by 18th century houses, shops, chic boutiques and The Hoste, one of the most popular places to eat and drink in North Norfolk and only a five minute walk from the cottage. With an abundance of small village shops including a butcher, fresh fish shop, green grocers, wine merchant and deli you are spoilt for choice.
All-weather tennis courts can be found an easy stroll away on the village playing field.
A short drive and you’ll discover the sailing harbours at Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Overy Staithe and the beaches and Royal West Norfolk Golf Course at Brancaster. Historic Holkham with its wonderful white sandy beach and Wells-next-the-Sea with its beach huts are a short drive away too.
Don’t forget that Barefoot can arrange for bikes to be delivered to the property if you fancy exploring the quiet lanes and beautiful countryside. Collect your picnic from Humble Pie in the village and head to the coast!
If you don’t want to stray too far, then enjoy an al fresco dining experience making full use of the BBQ or simply get lost in a good book in the sunny garden.
