The renowned Dabbling Duck at Great Massingham, frequented by the younger members of the royal family, is five miles away and there is some fabulous walking and bird watching close by.
Chiffchaff cottage is perfect for little lovebirds looking for a romantic self-catering break in a characterful cottage in a quiet location.
This holiday cottage is nestled within the pretty village of West Raynham within the North Norfolk countryside and boasts lovely views over open fields.
Close to local amenities in Fakenham and Great Massingham, yet tucked away in this sleepy village and surrounded by some beautiful walks, this lovely romantic getaway is a great choice all year round.
Recently renovated and finished to a high standard, Chiffchaff sleeps up to three guests. Best of all the cottage welcomes up to two well-behaved dogs. With a fantastic wood burner too, you will be hard pressed to leave this pretty cottage. Bedrooms and bathrooms
The large master bedroom features a double bed with sumptuous bed linens and boasts views across open countryside and towards to the chapel to the front. White walls complement the relaxed ambiance of this pretty but light room with its pretty feature fire place.
The modern and luxurious lime stone tiled Jack and Jill bathroom is shared by the master bedroom and single bedroom, so plenty of time for pampering. However to ensure privacy there is also a separate shower room with WC downstairs.
The pretty garden to the rear of the cottage is very sunny and with a large lawned area your four legged friends will delight in the space to run around.
There is also a very pretty outside dining area, just behind the house where you can enjoy long summer evenings; the perfect back drop for informal BBQs as the sun sets on another day. Or simply relax and enjoy the view and listen to the bird song and bees in the garden, as you feel all of your worries melt away.
There is a shared access between the gardens although this is not used often and therefore should not be a disruption to your peace and quiet. For stays that include dogs, please accompany them when using the shared access, until you reach the private garden.
With so much walking on your doorstep, make sure you bring your walking boots!
Chiffchaff cottage is perfect for relaxing and unwinding but if you fancy getting out and about then head to the Raynham Hall estate where you can enjoy strolling down by the River Wensum and around the parkland. A charming area at any time of year but best for birds in spring and early summer, there are lots of easy walking routes on waymarked paths which are often recorded on the village notice board. Watch out for Common Wildfowl and Waterbirds, Cuckoos, Sparrow Hawks, Kestrels, Reed Warblers, Sky Larks and of course Chiffchaffs!
In winter you are likely to see and hear Winter Thrushes, Siskin and Redpoll. A bird watcher’s delight.
Alternatively head to the RSPB reserves at Titchwell, Cley-next-the-Sea or Snettisham which are only a short drive away or the wonderful beaches at Brancaster, Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham or take a boat trip to see the seals from Morston village.
Head back after a busy day and enjoy a welcome treat of a cup of tea and slice of cake or maybe a nip of whisky or glass of wine!
There is parking outside on the road, although the road is very quiet.
The kitchen is well equipped with and electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer. There is also plenty of storage space for muddy boots and coats.
