Proudly sat overlooking the village green in Burnham Market with views over the whole village, Craig House is a luxury self-catering holiday home perfectly positioned in what is considered Norfolk’s loveliest village.
Burnham Market exudes all the elegance and style of a Georgian village, with plenty of opportunity to shop and dine in its many restaurants, pubs and cafe’s. Steeped in history, Burnham Market has strong links to Horatio Nelson who was born in nearby Burnham Thorpe and was a regular visitor to The Hoste Arms in the village.
A warm welcome awaits at this fabulous property which is both spacious and beautifully styled with Georgian touches, sash windows and wooden floors downstairs. Peppered with mod cons too and stylish and modern bathrooms, this house offers a great opportunity for the whole family or a group of friends to relax and rejuvenate whilst enjoying plenty of privacy.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Each of the five bedrooms are bedecked in fine linens and the fluffy duvets and pillows to ensure a blissful night’s sleep.
With three bedrooms on the first floor and two on the second floor there is plenty of room to relax.
The large front master King bedroom boasts views over the village green and has a light and spacious en-suite shower room. Further along the hallway there is a super-king bedroom with a zip-and-link bed which can also be made up as a twin bedroom if required which has views to the rear garden. Also overlooking the garden is a sunny and beautifully styled pink ‘french-chateau’ influenced bedroom with a king-sized bed. Both of these bedrooms share the family bathroom which has a bath with shower over and all three bedrooms have feature fireplaces.
On the second floor there are two attic bedrooms accessed via two separate steep staircases from the first floor landing. The first twin bed attic room features a shower room whilst the second attic bedroom features a double bed with shower room. Although suitable for adults and children, these rooms are accessed via a steep Norfolk winder staircase, therefore would not be suitable for those with limited mobility or the very young.
There is a cloakroom on the ground floor.
Outside
The enclosed rear garden is a great place for to chill out with an afternoon tipple (or two)! With a paved terrace and plenty of space to relax in the afternoon sun (choose to sit immediately outside the property or further down the garden to enjoy even more peace and quiet), you feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of Burnham Market. Although the front door opens out onto a quiet side road and the village green, the back garden is extremely quiet.
There is a garage and outbuilding attached to the rear garden although only one small car (Not 4×4 or Estate) can be parked in front of the garage during your stay. There is no access to the garage as this is used more for storage.
Barefoot relaxation
If you can pull yourself away from Craig House, then head out to explore the wonderful village shops which surround the pretty village greens. Although there are shops such as Jack Wills and Joules; village is quite unique in that all the other shops are independents, providing a unique shopping experience. There is a great fishmonger’s; Gurney’s and butcher in the village along with two fantastic deli’s which serve freshly baked bread and croissants; perfect for breakfast! Make sure you visit the famous Humble Pie which is where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge can sometimes be found buying their provisions! There is also a fabulous hat shop and some beautiful lifestyle and home interior shops plus some stylish boutiques; ideal for treating yourself!
If you fancy exploring the local area on foot, then walk up Herring’s Lane and enjoy the panoramic views over the coastline and towards the iconic windmill. Retrace Nelson’s steps by taking a walk to Burnham Thorpe or if you only want to step across the road, then enjoy the exhibition at The Hoste Arms, which also offers three restaurants, and a historic front public bar to soak up the village atmosphere.
For a bit of pampering, walk across to the Hoste beauty spa and enjoy a dip in their Jacuzzi which is situated in a private garden to the rear of the hotel, or of course indulge in some relaxing treatments.
The lounge at Craig House is a peaceful spot to sit and relax in the afternoon sun too or snuggle into the sofas during the cooler winter months with a glass of port, a good book and the woodburner blazing. Burnham Market is brilliant for people watching and you couldn’t be in a better spot than Craig House’s kitchen to do just that!
