Nestled in the heart of Docking village, Curlew Cottage is a stylish 3 bedroom property that ticks all the right boxes! Using the expertise of local interior designers Kate Thompson and Francesca Farrell, each room has been uniquely themed inspired by the majestic North Norfolk coast. Here you are perfectly located to explore Norfolk in any direction. Head north and you will be on the coast within 5 minutes where you can take your pick of expansive beaches and coastal walks, go west and visit the coastal villages overlooking The Wash and producing some of the best sunsets in the country! To the east you will find the popular village of Burnham Market with its plethora of independent shops, boutiques and restaurants, or head south and explore the historic market towns of Fakenham and Kings Lynn.
Entrance
Entering Curlew Cottage is the definition of love at first sight! As soon as you cross the threshold into this stylish home-away-from-home, you will feel the weight of the world lift away from your shoulders. The entrance hall is decorated with striking Pheasant wallpaper, in keeping with the theme of the local area. Here there is a bench with shoe and coat storage so that you can don you boots and jackets before heading on through the house.
Living area
The open plan living area is filled with natural light from the lantern roof and the large bifold doors that overlook the garden and surrounding fields. This room is the hub of the house and the perfect social space for bringing your party together.
The modern kitchen is very well-equipped with everything you could possibly want during your stay, and more! Complete with an integrated fridge freezer, built-in oven and microwave, induction hob, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, Quooker hot water tap, kettle and toaster. There is also a breakfast bar lined with four comfortable bar stools.
The rustic dining area comfortably seats at least 6 guests around the large wooden dining table. Behind the table is a uniquely designed map of the North Norfolk coast.
The lounge area is furnished with 2 armchairs and a large sofa for sinking into after a long day out exploring! There is a wall-mounted Smart TV and a built-in electric fireplace – turn this on to create a cosy ambience and it will even provide heat if you want an extra blast after a chilly winter walk on the beach! In the warmer months you can open up the bifold doors and unify the interior and exterior spaces.
Snug
The equestrian themed snug is perfect for those who want to enjoy either some quiet reading time, to watch something different to the rest of the group on the wall-mounted Smart TV, or even those who need to work or study while away from home. Decorated with pictures of the owner’s old family horses, and original polo sticks that have been in the family for over a century.
Utility Room
The separate utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, sink and an additional fridge freezer. Adjoining the utility is a ground floor WC which is decorated with wallpaper designed by local business Collingwood Coastal and features boats still being used on the North Norfolk coast today including sharpies, whelk, crab boat, mussel flat, Norfolk gypsy, Stiffkey cockle and Seahawk 17.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
There are 3 luxurious, individually themed bedrooms set on the first and second floor, each with their own en suites.
Bedroom 1 – Sea Urchin – Located on the first floor, this bedroom is decorated with sea urchin wallpaper and oars bought from the local Drove Orchards complex. This room features twin single beds (which are zip and link so can be made as a super king upon request), built-in wardrobes and an en suite with a rainfall effect shower, hand basin, WC and a heated towel radiator.
Bedroom 2 – Holkham – Located on the first floor, this room has been designed to a theme honouring the famous, local Holkham estate using the family’s tartan and map of the estate, as well as a Bowler hat (which is also a family piece). The feathered blind and bedside lights give a lovely light feel to it. This room is furnished with a double bed, built-in wardrobe, and an en suite with a rainfall effect shower, hand basin, WC, and a heated towel radiator.
Bedroom 3 – Curlew – Set on the second floor, this bedroom is decorated with specifically designed and printed Curlew wallpaper from a local producer and a stunning picture showing the beauty of the Curlew birds which are famously seen on the North Norfolk beaches. Featuring a king size bed, a walk-in closet, and an en suite with a freestanding oval bath, hand basin, WC and a heated towel radiator.
Outside
To the rear of the property there is an enclosed garden complete with a patio area, outdoor seating and a gas BBQ – ideal for alfresco dining in the warm summer months! The patio is bordered by pretty flower beds and there is a raised lawn area for the children and dogs to enjoy!
To the front of the property there is off-road parking for 2 cars on the gravel driveway. If additional parking is required, you can also park on the roadside to the front of the property.
