High Barsham is a stylish and spacious converted barn located in the rural village of North Barsham and is part of the Barsham Barns complex. This unique property combines original features and rural details with a colourful Eastern atmosphere. Sleeping up to 12 guests with accommodation spread over 2 floors, this spacious barn is perfect for families or groups of friends looking a peaceful, rural getaway yet still being within easy reach of the coast.
Once used for threshing the barn, High Barsham is now a stylish and spacious barn conversion that has been uniquely designed to combine original features and rural details with a colourful Eastern atmosphere. Offering accommodation for up to 12 guests across two floors and with an open kitchen/dining room, this spacious barn is perfect for entertaining and celebrating over a dinner party!
With panoramic views over the Stiffkey River valley and the surrounding countryside, this rural retreat is a haven for nature lovers, walkers, cyclists, and keen ornithologists. Put your boots on or hop on your bike and you can wind your way along the quiet country lanes and explore the neighbouring villages of East Barsham, Houghton St Giles and Little Walsingham. You can also visit the local Barsham Brewery just along the road at West Barsham. Alternatively, jump in your car and within 5 minutes you can be in the market town of Fakenham, or take a 15-minute drive North and you will be on the glorious North Norfolk coast with the sand between your toes and the wind in your hair!
Head up the steps into High Barsham where you will be welcomed into the kitchen/diner. Here you will find coat hooks and an area to store your shoes. There is also a WC which houses the washing machine and tumble dryer too.
Kitchen & Dining Area
With double aspect views taking in the surrounding countryside, the open plan kitchen/diner is the ideal place for entertaining so that friends and family can socialise while preparing meals and hosting a dinner party. Here you also have access to the garden and in the summer months you can leave the doors open and enjoy the warm fresh air.
The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you will need during your stay, including a fridge/freezer, built-in double oven and grill, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, and a ceramic sink, while the long wooden dining table seats up to 12 guests.
Set on the first floor, the spacious lounge is filled with light from the large floor to ceiling window that provides stunning views over the Stiffkey river valley and beyond. Here you can put your feet up and relax in style on the three large sofas. There is a plenty of entertainment on offer including a TV with DVD player and a selection of board games to keep everyone amused. In the winter months you can also light the woodburner to make it extra toasty!
In between bedroom 5 and 6, there is a spiral staircase that leads to a mezzanine floor where you will find a sofa and large floor cushions to sink into, as well as a TV and DVD player, making this an ideal den for children and teenagers.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
There are 6 individually designed, en suite bedrooms.
Bedroom 1: “The Pink Room” is located on the ground floor and comprises a double bed, built-in wardrobe and a en suite with a walk-in shower, WC and hand basin. This room also has a connecting door with bedroom 2.
Bedroom 2: “The Red Room” is located on the ground floor and comprises two full size single beds, built-in wardrobe and a en suite with a walk-in shower, WC and hand basin. This room also has a connecting door with bedroom 1.
Bedroom 3: “The Green Room” is located on the ground floor and comprises a double bed, free-standing wardrobe and a en suite with a bath and hand-held shower attachment, WC and hand basin.
Bedroom 4: “The Midnight Blue Room” is located on the first floor and boasts a high vaulted ceiling and original exposed beams and brick walls This room is furnished with a four-poster king size bed, large free-standing wardrobe and an en suite with a bath and hand-held shower attachment, WC and hand basin.
Bedroom 5: “The Orange Room” is located on the first floor and is equipped with a double bed, free-standing wardrobe and separate chest of drawers. This room interconnects with bedroom 6.
Bedroom 6: “The Pale Blue Room” is located on the first floor and consist of a king size bed (which is zip and link so can be split into two small singles upon request), hanging and shelving space for storing clothes. This room interconnects with bedroom 5.
Family Bathroom: Shared by bedrooms 5 and 6, tis bathroom is set up the spiral staircase on the mezzanine floor and is equipped with a bath and hand-held shower attachment, WC and hand basin.
To the front of the barn there is a south facing garden with views across the valley and surrounding meadows. Here you will find a large concrete terrace with al fresco dining for 12 guests as well as a charcoal BBQ to use in the summer months. There are two areas laid to lawn, each bordered with established lavenders. Please note that the garden is walled and secured with a 5-bar gate but is not dog proof from those canine escapologists!
Off-road parking for High Barsham is located opposite the barn entrance just a short walk away and is well signposted. There is also additional off-road parking located on the gravel drive in the garden should this be required.
