Keppel Cottage is a traditional Norfolk cottage set in the wonderful private woodland grounds of the Old Rectory in the beautiful village of North Creake, a few minutes' drive from Norfolk's loveliest village, Burnham Market. With two double bedrooms, two en-suite shower rooms, lounge, kitchen and separate dining room, this fantastic period property allows you to enjoy nine acres of the owner's secluded grounds which include tennis courts. This peaceful little love nest is set behind the village church and is very tranquil and perfect for those wanting to escape the rat race and chill-out for a few days or longer!
Escape to Keppel Cottage and you will feel a world away from the distractions of everyday life. This period luxury self-catering holiday cottage adjoins the Old Rectory in pretty North Creake just a short drive to Burnham Market and in walking distance via a countryside walk from the grounds to Creake Abbey with its little shops, cafe and monthly farmer’s market.
Wonderfully secluded, this stylish retreat is sublimely positioned in the owner’s grounds and is set amongst beautiful manicured lawns and woodland gardens stretching to nine acres in all, which you are free to explore and enjoy. Located above the impressive village church, it was built in 1845 for the Rev Thomas Keppel, the rich son of William Keppel, 4th Earl of Albermarle. It was the first notable commission for the architect Samuel Teulon, also the designer of Shadwell Park and Tortworth Court. Voted as one of England’s finest parsonages by Country Life, this period property is unique.
Within easy reach of chic Burnham Market where you can shop until you drop in little boutiques, art galleries, delicatessen’s and foodie haunts, you are also in easy reach of all the best sandy beaches along this glorious stretch of coast including Brancaster, Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Old Hunstanton and the sailing facilities at Burnham Overy Staithe and Brancaster Staithe.
Decorated in a traditional cottage style, you will appreciate the peaceful seclusion of this little love nest.
Guests can enjoy the use of the owner’s tennis courts during their stay.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
In the two double bedrooms you’ll find white crisp linens. The master suite is located on the ground floor with a shower room located opposite. The second double bedroom is located upstairs with an en-suite shower room, perfect for soothing your tired feet after a long day walking. Both bedrooms are light and bright and face over the grounds.
Keppel Cottage’s private surroundings are ideal for unwinding. Enjoy al fresco dining on the small seating area located in front of the cottage. Although here is no enclosed area, but you have the feeling of space as you have open views to the front gardens towards the church. This south-west facing hideaway is in close proximity to the coast which makes the cottage perfectly positioned for saltwater adventures.
Discover your own private wilderness behind the cottage by following the pathways into the woodland which are full of bluebells and wild garlic beyond. Meander down the paths where you can truly immerse yourself in the countryside.
From the cottage you can enjoy views of the church from the downstairs bedroom, which does also mean that you will hear the bells!
Wake to the sound of bird song at this romantic self-catering cottage. Perfect as a hideaway for two or four, this little retreat is a little gem in a stunning location. With an abundance of woodland and garden to explore and footpaths out into open countryside, you will have plenty of opportunity to walk and breathe in the country air.
Pour a glass of red wine and relax in the lounge or source local ingredients from nearby Creake Abbey or Burnham Market and cook an early supper.
Head over to Sandringham to take a tour of HM The Queen’s residence. Enjoy exploring Wells-next-the-Sea and all the coastal ‘staithe’s including Brancaster Staithe where Nelson reportedly learn’t to sail. His birthplace is only a short drive away in Burnham Thorpe.
There is parking for two cars directly in front of the cottage but there is a large gravel area to the front of the owner’s house which you are welcome to use. The cottage is accessed via a long private gravel driveway from the road which is set behind electric gates.
There is an open fire in the lounge and a small traditional pine kitchen where you will find a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven and hob and fridge/freezer.
Please note this property is not suitable for small children or dogs.
