Barsham • Sleeps 8 • Dogs welcome
Once the milking parlour, Long Meadow has been transformed into a generously proportioned barn conversion accommodating up to 8 guests in four en suite bedrooms. Forming part of the Barsham Barns complex, this property has been styled with an elegant, yet relaxed French country feel while incorporating the original features of the building. Nestled in the rural village of North Barsham you will find yourself immersed in the Norfolk countryside with an abundance of nature and wildlife right on your doorstep!
Dating back to 1715, Long Meadow is the oldest barn of the farm and was once used as the milking parlour. Today it has been renovated and designed to create a generously proportioned barn conversion to bring families or groups of friends together. Thoughtfully combining modern living with traditional architecture and original features, this property can accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 individually designed en suite bedrooms. The accommodation is set mostly on 1 level so is ideal for groups of all ages.
With views over the Stiffkey River valley, this rural retreat is a haven for nature lovers, walkers, cyclists, and keen ornithologists. Put your boots on or hop on your bike and you can wind your way along the quiet country lanes and explore the neighbouring villages of East Barsham, Houghton St Giles and Little Walsingham. You can also visit the local Barsham Brewery just along the road at West Barsham. Alternatively, jump in your car and within 5 minutes you can be in the market town of Fakenham, or take a 15-minute drive North and you will be on the glorious North Norfolk coast with the sand between your toes and the wind in your hair!
The spacious open plan living area has been beautifully designed to incorporate the original features of the barn including the chalk walls and the exposed beams. The high vaulted ceiling creates a spacious, light, and open feel. Sectioned into three individual areas, yet all seamlessly linking, this room comprises and lounge, kitchen and dining area.
At the far end, the beautifully light lounge offers stunning views across the valley and is furnished with three comfortable sofas, a TV and DVD player as well as a selection of family games and books. This is the perfect area for spending quality time together, whatever the weather. In the warmer months you can open the doors to sunken Mediterranean garden area and let the warm air in, or in the cooler months you can snuggle around the roaring woodburner.
The galley kitchen is well-equipped with everything you will need during your stay, including a fridge/freezer, built-in oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, and a large ceramic butler sink.
The dining area has a large oval shaped table and comfortably seats up to 8 guests.
Central to the room there is a raised mezzanine floor. To access this there is a small staircase to the side. Once up here, there are a selection of large cushions to sit on. This area is perfect as a den for the children and teenagers in the group. Please note, please do not leave small children unattended on the mezzanine.
