THE WIVETON BELL

Not far from Blakeney is the Wiveton Bell, a picture-perfect coastal pub dotted with English lavender, pretty views across the village green and a sun trap garden for summer dining.  Famous for its delicious seasonal and locally sourced menu you can expect modern British dishes – corn husk smoked beef brisket with fried polenta and truffle honey alongside classics of Black Angus Burger, bacon jam, Applewood cheddar, slaw & pickles.  Open daily and dogs are welcome – they even have their own menu.

THE MORSTON ANCHOR

Every trip to the seaside should include fish and chips and if you don’t fancy having yours alfresco on the beach The Morston Anchor is a must.  A cosy seaside pub steeped in history and only a stone’s throw from the quay and salt marshes beyond, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy the simplicity of really good, fresh fish and chips washed down with a real ale or signature cocktail.   Go for beer battered line caught cod and haddock with all the trimmings or try their smaller plates and nibbles to share – battered halloumi, shell on prawns, salt & pepper squid, and white bait.  Not an extensive menu, but the focus is on fresh and local.  Closed Monday to Wednesday.

THE CARPENTERS ARMS

This pub has it all, from a warm welcome where all the family can snuggle by the roaring log burner, to the traditional beer garden for sun seekers, a menu packed with pub classics with a drinks menu to match.  You’ll find comforting Farrow and Ball tones throughout, bare wood, and contemporary touches.  On the seasonal and classic menu, you can enjoy dishes such as 21 Day matured Swannington steak, a Seafood assiette packed with fresh local fish, gnocci and curry and their ever-popular Sunday roasts.  Bring the whole gang, including your pooch, currently open all day every day.

THREE HORSESHOES

The Three Horseshoes is family run, family friendly, dog friendly and jam packed with character. It’s a pub that dates back a few centuries (to 1725 in fact) – you can still see the traditional serving hatch (one of few surviving in Norfolk) and the pamment floor. Take a pew at one of the scrubbed wooden tables – either in the snug bar or in the cosy dining room – and order a local ale. Guests come from far and wide for the pub’s speciality: home-cooked pies, classics, and puddings. We love the Beef and Binham Blue Cheese Pie filled with slow-cooked beef and Mrs Temple’s famous cheese – while the wild mushroom, walnut and stout pie comes a close second.
