A truly unique coastal escape

When you go away, you want to stay somewhere that’s unique – where character meets comfort meets complete relaxation. The Railway Hotel in Burnham Market is that place. Situated in the heart of the village, this luxury room-only hotel is part of the Barefoot Retreats portfolio, and the attention-to-detail is second to none.

Originally the Old Station Master’s House, The Railway has been exquisitely renovated and refurbished. Each of the eight en-suite bedrooms is individually styled and beautifully-appointed, with contemporary, cosy interiors and all the boutiquey touches you’d expect, including fluffy robes and slippers, Nespresso machines and Noble Isle toiletries. For something a little different, book The Carriage. Since its final journey in 1952, the retired railway carriage has been painstakingly restored, from its gleaming woodwork to the deep copper sink – an original from its train days – and comes complete with a large walk-in rainfall shower and seating area.

The perfect base to explore

There’s an elegant communal lounge, with an honesty bar and snack station, that’s ideal for curling up with a good book and a drink when the weather isn’t so favourable. However, in the summer months step onto the terrace and enjoy the sunshine in the secluded garden, where the hot tub is the perfect spot to while away a balmy summer’s evening. Contact our concierge team to book your hot tub time at an additional charge and subject to availability. It can be booked for hourly slots between 9am and 5pm at £15 per hour or from 6pm for 3 hours at £30.

The Railway Hotel is a great base to explore this lovely part of the world. While all the bedrooms have their own allocated parking space, with an on-site electric charging point, the heart of Burnham Market is a stroll away, and with it all the buzzing restaurants and eateries this delightful village has to offer. It’s only a short drive to some of North Norfolk’s finest beaches, including Holkham, Brancaster and Wells-next-the-Sea (The Railway welcomes dogs in certain rooms but we also offer other Norfolk dog friendly cottages too). For an escape that’s as individual as it is luxurious, The Railway Hotel is first-class.
