Our Pick of The Best Restaurants in North Norfolk

Share

North Norfolk is among the most picturesque places in the UK. Stunning beaches, quaint villages, picturesque walks, and a welcoming community that takes pride in the local area. The beaches are one of the main reasons people visit. Miles of sand, seal spotting, spectacular cliffs. It makes for a memorable and scenic stay.

Seafood is big business in North Norfolk, and lots of restaurants love to showcase their catch of the day and the creativity of their chefs. It isn’t all about the seafood though. Norfolk is home to some incredible restaurants that offer a fantastic array of food with truly sumptuous menus.

We have picked some of the best restaurants in North Norfolk that we enjoy visiting and we are sure you will too.

Socius – Burnham Market

Socius has been picking up awards and nominations over the past few years for its great food and sociable atmosphere. With a menu focused on the idea of sharing, small plates make up most of the menu. Simply pick what you fancy and share it with the rest of your table as you have some of theirs too. On Sundays, the roasts are served, and we must say, they are stunning. The aged beef and the pork belly being favourites.

The food is locally sourced and can be complimented with a wide range of drinks. Featured in The Good Food Guide and winner of the Eat Norfolk Restaurant of the Year award in 2019, it is well worth checking out.

Throughout 2024 a supper club is taking place that fuses wine tasting and great food.

The Neptune – Old Hunstanton

Nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Hunstanton, The Neptune stands as a culinary gem, earning its well-deserved place among the best restaurants in North Norfolk. With its enchanting seaside location (the beach is just a short walk away) this dining establishment offers a unique experience having been awarded a Michelin star in 2022.

The Neptune is renowned for its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients, ensuring a menu that reflects the rich flavors of the region and the seasons. Whether indulging in freshly caught seafood or savoring dishes crafted from Norfolk’s finest produce, patrons can expect a gastronomic journey that celebrates the essence of North Norfolk. The Neptune in Hunstanton captures the essence of coastal charm, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking an unforgettable dining experience in this idyllic part of the country.

The Old Bank – Snettisham

For fine dining in North Norfolk, you don’t need to look much further than The Old Bank in Snettisham. Listed in the Michelin guide since 2019, the family-run venue is extremely popular due to the quality it offers.

The restaurant makes food look like art, and the presentation on each plate is simply divine. Working to a set menu, the restaurant offers a longer menu on Fridays and Saturdays and a shorter menu on all other days. Just be aware, you will need to book well in advance in most cases. The Old Bank is extremely popular.

You can make Snettisham your base by booking one of our luxury Snettisham cottages for your stay and enjoy the narrow streets, pretty buildings, and welcoming people.

Wells Crab House – Wells-next-the-Sea

We head back to Wells-next-the-Sea for a seafood spectacular at the Wells Crab House. Lobster, crab, oysters, prawns, fish. You want it? They’ve got it!

With regular specials relating to the freshly caught seafood and special monthly menus frequently popping up with a few surprises, you can indulge in a world of seafood exploration. The crab salad is exceptional value should a healthy meal be high on the agenda, and the seafood platters ensure all tastes are well catered for. Close to the sea for perfect views and decorated with a nautical theme to add a little more character, the Crab House is a great venue for a date night or a large gathering. Their customisable event hire packages make a great option if a big birthday is on the horizon.

These are four of the best restaurants in North Norfolk, and of course, there are so many more that you could sample. It’s certainly an area that caters for a huge array of tastes.
