Bi-fold doors open directly onto the courtyard from multiple rooms creating a sun-soaked dreamy terrace, with soft gravel pathways and architectural planting, where contemporary design sits in perfect contrast to the rich character of the historic chapel façade. Framed by soaring brick arches, sculptural greenery and expansive glazing, the space feels wonderfully atmospheric throughout the day, think first espressos of the day over conversations planning the days adventures, or drawn out supper parties gathered beneath Norfolk’s famous big skies.

Beyond the courtyard, sweeping lawns and mature trees create a softer sense of escape, with peaceful pockets of shade and beautifully curated gardens to wander.

Guests can also enjoy the wood-fired sauna and outdoor shower, adding a luxurious spa-like element to countryside stays. Designed by renowned sauna specialists Konga and handcrafted in Lithuania, this architect-designed sauna was one of the first of its kind in the UK, bringing authentic Nordic sauna culture to the heart of North Norfolk. Guests enter through the breathtaking ancient Gothic chapel, much of which now stands open to the skies above, softened by carefully planted borders and natural greenery that bring life and tranquillity to the historic ruins. The original chapel walls seamlessly transition into a striking glazed hallway, creating a dramatic architectural statement and setting the tone for the rest of the property. This atmospheric entrance beautifully showcases the fusion of heritage and contemporary design that defines the house.

Living Areas

At the heart of Thursford Castle lies a spectacular open-plan kitchen, dining and living area designed for sociable living and effortless entertaining. Framed by huge sliding glazed doors overlooking the peaceful courtyard garden, the space is flooded with natural light throughout the day while maintaining a wonderfully calm and grounded atmosphere.

Kitchen
The kitchen combines contemporary finishes with characterful architectural details, including exposed brick walls and beautiful timber beams overhead. Fully equipped for relaxed family suppers or celebratory feasts, it offers generous preparation space alongside everything needed for a luxurious self-catered stay.

A large dining table sits centrally within the living space, perfectly positioned for long, leisurely meals overlooking the courtyard. Positioned on the opposite side of the double-sided fireplace, the snug offers a wonderfully cosy retreat away from the main social spaces. Designed for quieter moments, this intimate room features comfortable seating, a 65-inch television with Sonos surround sound and a calming atmosphere perfect for film nights, reading or simply unwinding after a day exploring the Norfolk coast.

Study & Additional Spaces
For guests wishing to work remotely or simply enjoy a quieter corner of the house, Thursford Castle also features a dedicated study space alongside additional seating areas tucked throughout the property. These smaller hideaways offer peaceful spots to read, catch up on emails or simply pause and take in the unique surroundings.
