The Old Rectory is a truly magnificent property! The building itself is 157 years old and has just been refurbished to an exceptional standard. The property has been thoughtfully designed with a keen attention to detail throughout. It has been beautifully furnished with a mix of modern and antique furniture and stunning bespoke curtains in every room. The high ceilings and large traditional gothic style windows give the house an incredibly light and spacious feel to it. Set over three floors with multiple levels of stairs, this grand house is sure to impress!
This incredible house is the pinnacle of Barefoot luxury! Being as grand inside as it is outside, the property has a stately feel that you cannot help but fall in love with. The house has been thoughtfully designed to combine the original features of this historical house with modern furnishings and contemporary living. Surrounded by extensive manicured grounds with established trees, winding gravel paths, a large patio area and hard Tennis courts.
Set in a secluded location in the small village of Stanhoe, you can fully immerse yourself in the peace and tranquillity of the Norfolk countryside. Alternatively, you can head out and explore the stunning coast which is just 6 miles away. You are also within walking distance of the award-winning gastropub The Duck Inn which is well worth a visit!
In addition to the superb acomodation, there is also a games room located within The Old Stables. Facilities offered include a table tennis and pool table.
Entrance Hall/Lobby
The palatial entrance hall/lobby is a wonderful blend of traditional and modern-day living. Featuring original gothic architecture, high ceilings and original flooring, mixed with striking contemporary art work, wood burning stove and a classic chandelier light. Providing the central access point to the Study, TV room, Lounge, Dining room, Kitchen and the main staircase.
Also, concealed in the corner beside the stairs is a passage way leading to a separate WC featuring a marble sink, heated towel rail and unique gothic style floor tiles. The passage way also affords extra storage space located under the stairs and is decorated with distinctive feature wallpaper.
TV Room
The perfect room to retreat to and enjoy playing some family games or indulging in a great film in front of the cosy wood burner. Relax into the super-comfy large corner sofa and enjoy the 65-inch Smart TV with home theatre system and Blu Ray DVD player.
Formal Sitting Room
This very stately lounge is simply stunning! The large gothic style windows on three sides overlooking the extensive grounds, and vast high ceilings make the room beautifully light and airy. Featuring two large comfy sofas and two armchairs focused around the grand marble fireplace that houses the cosy wood burning stove.
The remarkable furnishings also include a very grand chandelier light, exquisite handmade curtains, fabulous lamps and a beautiful antique sideboard.
Dining Room
Contrary to the rest of the house, the dining room is very traditional in design. With a large antique dining table and chairs, glasses cabinet and sideboard, a majestic chandelier light and the original feature fireplace.
Kitchen
The immense kitchen is a real focal point of the house! With high ceilings, and large original windows this room is beautifully light and airy. Furnished to an exceptionally high standard and well-equipped with marble worktops and top of the range appliances including a large fridge/freezer, two dishwashers, a double sink and large Rangemaster cooker and hob. There is a large central dining table surrounded by comfy chairs, making sure the head chef is still included in the entertainment.
There is also an adjoining snug room with a relaxed seating area overlooking the rear grounds and large patio area. The two sets of French doors can be opened out into the garden, perfect in the summer to really bring the outside in!
You can also access what was the traditional servant’s stair case which winds its way up to the first and second floors.
Boot Room/Utility
Providing plenty of hanging space for everyone’s coats and jackets and storage for your boots and shoes and with extra built in cupboard space. There is also and adjoining utility room, shower room and an original feature brick oven.
The Utility room has marble worktops surrounding a large sink, washing machine and tumble dryer.
The shower room has a walk-in rain effect shower, sink WC and heated towel rail.
Bedrooms
There are 8 stunning bedrooms spread across the first and second floors, each individually designed and furnished to provide the utmost luxury.
First Floor
Master Bedroom: Overlooking the rear grounds and Tennis courts, this huge boutique style bedroom has a super King bed, striking pink armchairs with a matching chais lounge, desk with chair, built in wardrobes and a traditional feature fireplace.
There is also a vast four-piece en suite bathroom with a walk-in rain effect shower, freestanding bath with hand-held shower attachment, sink, heated towel rail and a separate WC.
Bedroom 2: Overlooking the rear grounds and Tennis court, this charming bedroom provides ample space and offers a super King bed, built in wardrobes, en suite shower room and relaxed seating for two, perfect for perusing the morning paper or reading a good book beside the original feature fireplace.
The contemporary en suite has a large walk-in rain effect shower, WC, sink and heated towel rail.
Bedroom 3: The Peacock room! Overlooking the front of the property, this spacious bedroom features a super King bed backed by the extraordinary oriental themed feature wallpaper. The large original gothic style windows flood the room with natural light. There is also a traditional feature fireplace and relaxed seating for two with a reading table.
Set just up a few steps is the generous four-piece en suite bathroom. Featuring a walk-in shower, large free-standing bath with hand-held shower attachment, WC, sink and heated towel rail.
Bedroom 4: Overlooking the front of the property, this spacious and elegant bedroom is beautifully furnished with a super King bed, built in wardrobe and two armchairs providing a relaxed seating area.
The family Bathroom is located adjacent to this room.
Bedroom 5: With a large Velux window affording views across the rear grounds and Tennis court, this twin bedroom is beautifully light and bright, featuring two single beds and a built-in wardrobe with understated decor.
Second Floor
Bedroom 6: A large, spacious bedroom set in the eaves and overlooking the front of the property. The large Velux window makes this room lovely and light. With a super King bed, walk-in wardrobe, relaxed seating area and an en suite shower room.
The lavish en suite is decorated with unique patterned floor tiles, marble shelving, a walk-in rain effect shower, sink, WC and heated towel rail.
Bedroom 7: A cosy bunk room overlooking the front of the property, featuring a chest of drawers, original feature fireplace and bright furnishings – perfect for the kids.
Bedroom 8: A beautifully light and airy bedroom set in the eaves with magnificent views across the grounds and surrounding countryside to one aspect, and over the village of Stanhoe and the Church to the other. Featuring a super King bed, original feature fireplace, two large Velux windows, and relaxed seating for two with a reading table.
The family bathroom is located just next door.
Bathrooms
Throughout the house there are two family bathrooms, four en suites, 1 shower room and two separate WC’s. Ground floor: one separate WC located just off the lobby (as detailed above), and one shower room set just off the boot room. There is also an additional WC mid-way up the stairs to the first floor featuring a marble sink, heated towel rail and unique gothic style floor tiles.
First floor: Modern family bathroom decorated with unique patterned floor tiles. Featuring a bath with shower over, sink, WC, heated towel rail and radiator.
Second Floor: Contemporary four-piece family bathroom featuring a pebble surround bath with a hand-held shower attachment, separate walk-in shower, sink, WC and heated towel rail.
The Old Stables
Adjacent to the main house there is a separate building which serves as a fabulous games room. Beautifully decorated to match the high standard of the main property, here you will find a top of the range pool table, a snug area with a large Smart TV and a separate room with a full-size table tennis table. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen area, separate WC, and a private patio area which joins to the wild meadow part of the property’s grounds.
Outside
To the front of the property there is a large sweeping gravel drive with a central grassed roundabout, providing ample parking for all your party.
To the side of the property there is a large paved patio area perfect for alfresco dining or a BBQ on a long summers evening while taking in the stunning scenery surrounding you.
To the rear there are expansive manicured grounds featuring established trees and shrubs, with gravel paths winding through the gardens and leading the way to the newly laid hard Tennis courts, perfect for a light knock around or some healthy competition -just keep it friendly!
There is also an outside shower – perfect for washing away all the salt and sand after a long day at the beach.
