A Brief History of Snettisham
Not only is Snettisham beautiful, but it is drenched in rich Norfolk hustory, representing thousands of years of tales and fables, sagas and finds. Finds, in particular, have put Snettisham on the map: from the Snettisham Hoard of 1950 to the Jeweller’s Hoard of 1985, this village is a hub of nationally important archaeological discoveries, including Roman artefacts, Iron Age gold torques and a collection of ingots.
However, the real centrepiece of this coastal village is 14th century church of St. Mary, the spectacular 175-foot spire piercing the skies above the ancient woodland below, just as it has for seven hundred years.
