Staying at
Fen Willows

Quick guide to your location

Situated between Fakenham and Burnham Market you’ll find the pretty village of South Creake. This beautiful village is well worth visiting for the superb parish church of St Marys, and Bloodgate Hill Hillfort, an Iron Age fortification that is the largest hill-fort in Norfolk. From here you are in easy reach of all the hotspots of Wells-Next-the-Sea all the way over to Hunstanton. A perfect for exploring the North Norfolk coastline.

We have enjoyed our week in Fen Willows - The weather has been perfect enabling us to enjoy the outdoor facilities and indoor comfort. The location is close to the coast but with easy access inland has been perfect. The bird life in and around has added to the holiday experience. Though we have visited Norfolk before, the week here has opened our eyes to the history around here.

We have stayed at many self catering holiday houses over the years but Fen Willows is hands down the best we have ever stayed in. From the moment I arrived I immediately felt at home, relaxed and impressed with all of the interior. I actually get quite anxious about staying away from home and other holidays that I've been on I have even bothered to unpack! Well, this time I unpacked straight away. There is a special homely feel at Fen Willows that is so welcoming. This is our first time in North Norfolk and we enjoyed visits to Sandringham, Holkham, Brancaster (wonderful with the dogs), Thornham (the Droves is worth a visit for a few shops, Pizza, Fish & Chips and a Gelato- also Thornham Deli if you can get in- we tried twice but always too busy), a seal trip with John Bean, night hike at Sheringham Park to name a few. A couple of members of the family had dinner out one night at The Orange Tree which they enjoyed. I almost forgot to mention our visit to Wiveton Hall where we have wanted to visit for years since seeing Desmond on ' Normal for Norfolk' on TV. The food is so lovely as were the surroundings. 'Back to the Garden' is a great mainly organic farm shop/ cafe that was worth a visit. The house itself is very enjoyable and well thought out. I have never stayed in a more comfortable bed or slept so well away from home. The rest of the family also have been very comfortable. We are not used to an AGA so that caused us a few cooking dilemmas but we got by. I never knew such a fancy sink tap existed so that is on my wish list. Our two spaniels have thoroughly enjoyed their holiday too and the freedom of the garden. Thank you so much Barefoot Retreats & Fen Willows for the best holiday ever! PS. Also almost forgot to mention the amazing farmers market at Creake Abbey- well worth a visit if you are here on the first Saturday of the month.
