The Well House is a Grade II listed 400 year old historic luxury private town house, located in the centre of the pretty seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea.
Boasting spacious rooms and chic interiors throughout, this beautiful character house offers luxury self-catering accommodation with five large bedrooms, all with en-suites, two of which have magnificent roll-top baths.
This beautiful holiday home has spectacular views over the harbour and out to sea and makes a great base to explore the delights of the whole North Norfolk Coast. Set in an enviable location just a short walk from the quay, eateries and shops and the spectacular beach with all its wonderful beach huts, this is a simply wonderful retreat all year round.
The granduer of the house offers generous living areas downstairs to enable all of the family to spread out and unwind,whether it’s a seaside break you’re after, or a trip to the foodie meccas which populate this wonderful coast.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Choose from three beautifully furnished bedrooms on the first floor and two fabulous bedrooms on the second floor.
On the first floor you’ll find a fabulous master king size bedroom with a very spacious and luxury bathroom with a drench shower and separate roll top bath with views from the bedroom over the rear garden. Additionally there are a further two single bedrooms; one with a separate shower room and the other with fantastic sea views down to the harbour with an en suite bathroom with shower over.
Climb the steep winder staircase to the top floor and you’ll discover a further large king size bedroom with equally large en suite bathroom with drench shower and roll-top bath. There is a further twin bedroom on this floor with views down to the harbour.
With the two king suites featuring over-size drain showers and stand-alone baths, this retreat offers the perfect place to pamper and indulge in some blissful ‘me’ time.
There is also a downstairs cloakroom off the entrance hallway.
The stunning location of this property, overlooking the picturesque quay, offers great views from some of the rooms.
The beautiful south-facing sun terrace area, sheltered by the house, is a great spot for al fresco dining; benefiting from plenty of comfortable seating and a large BBQ for sizzling the freshest catch of the day. There is a further sun terrace and uncovered pond in the garden, so please take care with children and dogs. Barefoot Retreats and the owners can accept no liability for this.

Relax in front of the wood burner during the winter months and enjoy some quality family time together or a good catch-up with friends over a glass of wine.
Head outside and meander down the road from the house and within a minute you will be on the quay!
Wells-next-the-Sea is great for ‘gillying’ or crabbing and you’ll have endless hours of fun trying to catch them from the harbour wall. Walk the plank to the Albatross, a fabulous Dutch Barge moored in the harbour for dutch pancakes or head up Staithe Street for some retail therapy and some great coffee in the numerous coffee shops!
Wells-next-the-Sea is one of the most attractive towns on the North Norfolk Coast and is a beautiful and historic seaside resort. From the long sweeping beach bordered by pine woodland, along the gentle harbour with small fishing boats, past the shops on Staithe Street with not a chain store in sight, to the tree-lined park with its fine Georgian houses, quiet pubs and restaurants, Wells-next-the-Sea is an unspoiled seaside destination, waiting to be discovered!
The area around Wells also provides opportunities for sightseeing, water sports, bird watching, country walks and plenty of family fun. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has so much to offer whenever you choose to holiday.
An event not to missed is the Wells Carnival Week which is held throughout the first week of August every year.
Head to fashionable Burnham Market, Norfolk’s own Chelsea On Sea, where you’re likely to spot a famous face or two or even the young Royals.
In terms of eating out, you’ll be spoiled for choice, head to The Crown in Wells-next-the-Sea owned by celebrity TV chef Chris Coughborough or head to Galton Blackiston’s fine dining restaurant Morston Hall for a special treat! But there are plenty more too!
Fancy cooking at home? Then relax and enjoy the contemporary hand-painted well-equipped kitchen, which is the real hub of the house. The large electric Aga is ideal when cooking for larger groups, while the central island unit enables everyone to get stuck in and enjoy the conversation.
Alternatively, request the services of a private chef through Barefoot Retreats.
During the darker evenings, enjoy a quiet night in with friends and snuggle up on the sofa with your nearest and dearest in front of the wood burner and enjoy a film. The cottage is set up with Sky TV and Netflix so you’ll have plenty of relaxation opportunities.
There is private parking for up to two cars. Although there is no parking immediately next to the property, private parking is provided in an area belonging to the owners about 100 yards away. Alternatively there is public parking locally.
The kitchen is well-equipped with a fabulous island with sit-up bar area. With an easy to use electric Aga and separate electric hob and oven you will enjoy cooking here, as the kitchen also boasts views down to the sea. The washing machine and tumble dryer are located in a utility cupboard just through the study.
This stunning Grade-II townhouse has been freshly renovated to combine contemporary design with original features. A welcoming aura and grey hues prevail at this luxury house.
The Well House is in an enviable position overlooking the pretty harbour and is just perfect for a coastal holiday or short break to recharge the batteries.
Please note that the owners will only accept older children at the property and one dog. Barefoot Retreats and the owners accept no responsibility for the uncovered pond in the garden and care should be taken to supervise children and dogs at all times.
