Introduction
Monterey has a way of making you forget about the clock. Sitting on Thornham’s coastal path, with open fields, salt marshes and glimpses of the sea beyond, it’s a house that feels wonderfully connected to this wilder stretch of North Norfolk. Head out for a morning on the marshes, wander into the village for a long lunch, or simply stay put with the doors flung open and the garden calling. Beautifully relaxed and made for time together, Monterey slips effortlessly into the rhythm of a Norfolk holiday.
Inside
Life at Monterey centres around its light-filled, easy-going spaces. Mornings call for flaky pastries, fresh coffee and the papers spread across the table, while evenings have a habit of lingering over dinner and a bottle of something chilled. The interiors are stylish without taking themselves too seriously, with comfortable corners to curl up in and sociable spaces that bring everyone back together. Little ones are well catered for too, with plenty of toys and board games on hand for rainy afternoons and family games nights. Upstairs, restful bedrooms offer somewhere peaceful to disappear to when fresh air and a day spent exploring finally catch up with you.
Outside
Open the bi-fold doors and the garden becomes part of the house. A wide lawn stretches away from the patio, giving children and four-legged guests plenty of room to potter, with a small wooden seesaw adding a little extra fun for younger guests. Sunny days are best spent outside over alfresco brunches, an afternoon with a good book or a final glass and game of cards as dusk begins to settle.
Look beyond the garden and the landscape takes over. Open fields roll towards Thornham’s salt marshes, with glimpses of the sea beneath those vast Norfolk skies. Better still, the coastal path sits right on the doorstep, tempting you out for windswept walks whenever the mood takes you. Thornham’s pubs, deli and village favourites are close at hand too, although on a golden Norfolk evening, staying exactly where you are can be rather tempting.
There is off-road parking for up to three cars at the front of the property.

A generous corner sofa and over-sized armchair provide plenty of space to relax, with seating arranged around a wall-mounted Smart TV – perfect for settling in for a film or favourite programme at the end of the day.There is also a selection of family games and children's toys available for entertainment.
Open-Plan Kitchen & Dining Room
The beautifully presented open-plan kitchen and dining room forms the social heart of Monterey House, with a contemporary design and plenty of space for everyone to gather.
The well-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven, HOB, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso Pixie coffee machine. A breakfast bar with 2 stools provides a relaxed spot for a morning coffee or to keep the nominated chef company while dinner is being prepared, while Sonos speakers allow you to enjoy your favourite music.
Alongside the kitchen, a large dining table provides plenty of space for all guests to gather for leisurely breakfasts, celebratory dinners and evenings spent together.
Large panoramic bi-fold doors open directly onto the enclosed rear garden and patio, filling the room with natural light and allowing the indoor and outdoor spaces to flow together during the warmer months.
Utility Room
A separate utility area is equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer, providing useful laundry facilities throughout your stay.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Master BedroomA beautifully appointed principal bedroom with views across the rear garden towards the coast beyond. At its centre is a luxurious 6' super-king size bed, dressed in fine white bed linen with feather bedding for a comfortable night's sleep.
The room also provides a built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables with reading lights and a hairdryer, together with the convenience of its own en-suite shower room, complete with a generous walk-in shower, WC and wash basin.
Bedroom Two
A stylish bedroom furnished with a 5' king-size bed, fine white bed linen and feather bedding. Bedside tables and reading lights are provided on either side of the bed, and there is a built-in wardrobe and sideboard for storage. The bedroom benefits from its own private en-suite shower room featuring a walk-in shower, WC and wash basin.
Bedroom Three
A comfortable twin bedroom furnished with two full-size 3' single beds, dressed in fine white bed linen with feather bedding. There is a chest of drawers for clothes storage and bedside tables and reading lights are also provided.
Family Bathroom
The fully tiled family bathroom features a deep bath with handheld shower attachment, WC and wash basin.
