Set on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, Thornham is a characterful former smuggling village surrounded by sweeping saltmarshes, open countryside and wonderful coastal scenery. It is an ideal destination for those who enjoy the outdoors, with the Norfolk Coast Path passing nearby and a rewarding walk across the marshes leading to Thornham’s peaceful, unspoilt beach. Wildlife enthusiasts are particularly well catered for, with RSPB Titchwell Marsh and Holme Dunes Nature Reserve both close by.

Thornham is also renowned for its excellent food and drink. Within the village you’ll find popular favourites including The Orange Tree, The Lifeboat Inn, The Chequers and Thornham Deli, providing everything from relaxed lunches and coffee to excellent evening dining. Just outside the village, Drove Orchards is a destination in itself, bringing together a farm shop and an array of independent businesses, including Gurneys Fish Shop, Eric’s Fish & Chips and Eric’s Pizza, alongside cafés and boutique shopping.

There is plenty more to discover along the coast, with the magnificent sandy beaches at Brancaster and Old Hunstanton just a short drive away. Head inland to browse the independent shops and eateries of Burnham Market, or spend the day exploring Holkham and the Sandringham Estate. The coastal bus service also stops in Thornham, making it easy to explore North Norfolk without having to take the car.
