Introduction
There’s something about Thornham that makes you want to stay a little longer, and Monterey puts you right in the midst of it. Days here can begin with a walk towards the marshes, take an unexpected turn over lunch at the pub and end back at the house with sandy shoes by the door and nowhere else you need to be. Inside, the mood is relaxed and beautifully put together; outside, there’s space to make the most of those long Norfolk evenings. A house that feels made for holidays, in a village that knows exactly how to do them.
Inside
Monterey has an easy elegance about it – stylish without feeling precious and comfortable enough to truly settle into. Light moves through the house as the day unfolds, from freshly baked flaky pastries and hot coffee over the morning papers to evenings spent around the table with a bottle of something chilled and dinner taking longer than planned. There are cosy corners when everyone wants to do their own thing and plenty of space to come back together, with a collection of toys and board games ready for family games nights and rainy afternoons. Restful bedrooms wait upstairs when the coastal air eventually catches up with you.
Outside
Throw open the bi-fold doors and the garden feels like a natural continuation of the house. A broad sweep of lawn gives everyone room to enjoy the sunshine, with a small wooden seesaw for younger guests and plenty of space for children and four-legged friends to potter. The generous patio is made for alfresco brunches, afternoons with a good book and one last glass over a game of cards as the evening draws in.
But it’s the outlook that really gives the garden its sense of place. Beyond the greenery, views stretch across open fields towards the coast – an ever-changing Norfolk backdrop of big skies, passing clouds and distant sea. And when you do feel like venturing out, Thornham’s salt marshes, coastal paths, pubs, deli and the wild beauty of the beach are all close by.
There is off-road parking for up to three cars at the front of the property.

A generous corner sofa and over-sized armchair provide plenty of space to relax together, with seating arranged around a wall-mounted Smart TV – perfect for settling in for a film or favourite programme at the end of the day. There is also a selection of family games and children's toys available for entertainment.
Open-Plan Kitchen & Dining Room
The beautifully presented open-plan kitchen and dining room forms the social heart of Monterey House, with a contemporary design and plenty of space for friends and family to gather.
The well-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso Pixie coffee machine. A breakfast bar with 2 stools provides a relaxed spot to sit with a morning coffee or keep the nominated chef company while dinner is being prepared, while Sonos speakers allow you to enjoy your favourite music.
Alongside the kitchen, a large dining table comfortably seats up to ten guests, creating a wonderful space for leisurely breakfasts, celebratory dinners and evenings spent together.
Large panoramic bi-fold doors open directly onto the enclosed rear garden and patio, bringing plenty of natural light into the room and allowing the inside and outside spaces to flow together during the warmer months.

A separate utility area equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer, providing useful laundry facilities during longer stays.

Master BedroomA beautifully appointed principal bedroom with views across the rear garden towards the coast beyond. At its centre is a luxurious 6' super-king size bed, dressed in fine white bed linen with feather bedding for a comfortable night's sleep. The room also provides a built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables with reading lights and a hairdryer, together with the convenience of its own en-suite shower room, complete with a generous walk-in shower, WC and wash basin.
Bedroom Two
A stylish bedroom furnished with a 5' king-size bed, fine white bed linen and feather bedding. Bedside tables and reading lights are provided on either side of the bed, and there is a built-in wardrobe and sideboard for storage. The bedroom benefits from its own private en-suite shower room, featuring a walk-in shower, WC and wash basin.
Bedroom Three
A comfortable twin bedroom furnished with two full-size 3' single beds, dressed in fine white bed linen with feather bedding. There is a chest of drawers for clothes storage and bedside tables and reading lights are also provided.
Bedroom Four
A fun children's bedroom featuring two sets of bunk beds, each with full-size 3' mattresses. A colourful children's library provides an additional thoughtful touch for younger guests.
Family Bathroom
Serving bedrooms three and four, the fully tiled family bathroom features a deep bath with handheld shower attachment, WC and wash basin.
